Jesus Porta
Dr. Jesús Porta-Etessam has a degree in medicine and surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed his neurology residency at the “12 de Octubre” university hospital in Madrid, completing his training at the Sloan Kettering neuro-oncology center in New York. He holds a Master's degree in statistics and epidemiology from UNED, and completed the training program in Leadership and Strategic Management of Scientific Societies at ESADE and the senior management program for health institutions at IESE.
He currently works as head of section at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid in the headache and neurooto-ophthalmology unit, where he is one of the residents' tutors and a board member of the neurosciences institute. Vice-president of the Spanish Society of Neurology. Member of the National Neurology Commission. Associate Professor of Neurology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Fellow of the European Academy of Neuology.
He has been Director of Culture and member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Neurology, leading the communication and international relations committees, member of the board of the study groups on headaches and neuro-ophthalmology, of which he is one of the promoters. He has been a member of the Madrid Association of Neurology. He has been the promoter of multiple teaching and dissemination activities in neurology.
He has published more than 150 articles indexed in national and international journals, more than 30 chapters and has edited several books. He has been an organizer and speaker at multiple congresses and
meetings. He has participated in several clinical and therapeutic studies. Editor in Chief of the Journal of Neurology and Neuroscience. Member of the editorial committee of Headache research and treatment,
Neurología, Revista de Neurología, Kranion, Neuroscience and History and Lancet neurology (Spanish). Honorary member of several patient associations.
