Mª Luisa Franco Gay
I was born in Zaragoza, but I grew up in Sabiñanigo at the foot of the Telera and Tendeñera crags in the wonderful Tena Valley of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
I completed my academic training between Aragon, Catalonia and Madrid, as stated in my professional CV.
I am an anesthesiologist, but from the beginning of my professional activity, I dedicated myself to pain treatment, initially combining it with anesthesiology and later devoting myself exclusively to my true vocation, pain treatment, both in the public and private sphere.
During my apprenticeship I had very good teachers such as Enrique Rey from Puerta de Hierro, Antonio Espejo and Enrique Monzó from the La Fraternidad clinic in Madrid. Throughout my career, many have been those who have enriched my curriculum not only professionally but also and above all personally. For three decades I have been developing my profession in the Basque Country, in the Pain Unit of the Cruces University Hospital.
I am focused on Pain Intervention and I am in love with the multidisciplinary nature of it. A good activity cannot be understood without this approach. Another area of interest, and the Academy of Medical Sciences of Bilbao is a good showcase, is to value the multidisciplinary treatment of pain in all its dimensions, participating in all the activities aimed in that direction.
